Information about the Implementation

Combination of lectures and tutorials

→ See Appendix for arrangements in case of "Corona"

Lectures on Quantitative Research Methods include highly structured content, which is why frontal teaching is used as the main method. To make the lessons interactive nevertheless, you will participate in tutorials after the lecture during which you apply the material that was covered. In the tutorials, you will work on the solution to the exercises, which you can complete then or by yourself afterwards. You will use the statistical software SPSS to do the exercises.

Be sure to bring your laptop with a working version of SPSS to the tutorials. For further information, see "Installing the Software SPSS" on page 4.

Nature of the exercises

The exercises typically start with "Task 01" that already includes a solution.By working through it, you further familiarize yourself with the topic.Once you have completed it, you need to do "Task 02" by yourself using SPSS.At the end of every exercise, you will see a "Divertimento," which is a series of brief tasks that you should do but do not have to submit.Doing the exercises requires you to apply all the elements needed for reaching the learning objectives and successfully solving complex problems relating to applied data analysis.

Admission to the final exam

You will have to submit your solutions for the exercises to be permitted to sit the final exam.To do so, you will have to upload your solution onto ILIAS.You will be notified by email once your solution has been checked.
Of the 10 exercises, 5 must be graded "Pass" in order for you to be admitted to the final exam.

For further information, see "Information about the exercises" on page 8.
